The Document Export Utility is designed to produce export copies of your firm’s documents outside of ProLaw. Once exported, documents can be transferred to other devices or archived outside of ProLaw. Documents that are exported by the Utility are no longer linked to any of the calendar and notes functions or the document management features of ProLaw. Therefore, changes made to exported documents will not affect your firm’s original documents.

For instance, exported documents can be uploaded onto a laptop computer, flash drive, or portable hard drive and brought to court hearings, depositions, mediations, or other occasions where it is convenient, or even necessary, to have documents available for reference. Departing attorneys taking their clients with them by agreement with the firm can also take copies of their files while allowing the firm to retain a full record of work done before their departure. The Utility also allows files to be exported for backups on other devices. Once these exported files have been verified, the originals can safely be deleted, saving space on your firm’s server.
