At some point, every law firm faces the need to integrate documents from outside sources into its document management environment. However, for law firms that use the popular ProLaw document management system, this circumstance can present a challenge. The Document Import Utility by jSQL addresses this challenge with a user-friendly, affordable program that integrates seamlessly into ProLaw.

Features

The Document Import Utility does just what it says – allows documents to be imported into your firm’s document management system, according to its established protocol. Specifically, the Utility imports email from Outlook, as well as photo files and PDFs – individually, in batches or groups, and into assigned folders. The Document Import Utility also includes a drag and drop feature that provides an easy option for importing documents and files.

Benefits

A new hire can bring much-needed expertise to a firm, not to mention a valuable set of clients and cases. However, integrating a new hire’s case files can be a challenge. The Document Import Utility makes it easy to integrate case files, email messages, and even graphics files from a new hire directly into your firm’s ProLaw environment.

The Utility allows for maximum flexibility in accessing imported documents. With the Import Document Utility, documents can be imported directly from various external sources, and organized by event types and event classes. The Utility also allows users to determine the defaults for the Notes field for imported documents, facilitating document selection by document creation date, most recent edit date, or import date.

Testimonials

"We needed a solution that would allow us to automate the process of importing thousands of medical records from our record retrieval service. Our support staff were spending hours dragging and dropping records from the vendor’s platform to their desktop and then to the appropriate matter in Prolaw. We contacted jSQL and asked them to work with the vendor to come up with a way to automate the process of getting the records into Prolaw. jSQL was able to modify its Document Import Application to parse the medical record file name, extracting the Matter ID, Claims Number, medical provider, type of service performed and the date the service was performed from the vendor’s data feed and automated the creation of documents in the appropriate matter in ProLaw and even made the metadata available on the respective document note. The estimated time savings generated as a result of this clever automation is equivalent to the time of two full time employees annually."
